one|chapter 6:
hire me!
For anyone interested in hiring me, here's a brief summary of my billing rates and responsibilities.
Home/Non-Profit Rates
If you run a non-profit organization or it's for an individual, I currently charge $50 an hour plus expenses.
Commercial Rates
If it's for a business or a commercial venture (at home or in the office), I currently charge $75 an hour plus expenses.
Responsibilities
The above rates are non-negotiable from your perspective but are subject to change should I decide the circumstances warrant a revision. The rates do not include any additional charges related to travel, procurement of hardware and/or software or any other expenses.
I will NOT procure illegal software, share software or violate existing licenses/EULAs in any way, shape or fashion. Asking me to do so will void any contract and I'll require the rest of my fee immediately.
I don't guarantee anything with my work, whether I'm consulting or actually servicing a machine. An oral agreement to have me work for you means that I may end up destroying your machine, all the data and prevent you from ever recovering it. If you hire me, I can walk up to your computer, pour gasoline on it, light it on fire, wait until it burns up, then bill you for my time. That's how it goes.
Areas of Expertise
If you've read my resume and understand it, you know what I'm good at.
If you don't understand my resume or can't be bothered to look at it, then I have no expertise. Consider me a guy who just walked in off the street. I may be able to solve your problems, I may not.
I am particularly good at consulting, mainly because if offers less risk and more reward than dirtying my hands with actual work. However, I'm good with that side as well.
